Hey, Georgie here.

Launceston, Tasmania is home for me. I was born into a family where tech and creativity were both central, and curiosity in both were encouraged. Dad taught me to write simple exe commands in DOS as an 8yo. Mum studied music at the conservatorium and 40 years later is a world renowned pastel artist. This mix of tech and creativity is evident in the interests of many of my siblings.

As a kid I was always creating contraptions in the backyard and loved understanding how things worked. As an adult, I've enjoyed working on my old Honda CL360. This curiosity has proven very valuable in recent years as a founder, where understanding the full tech stack enabled me to build better products. My CTO pulls me in to assess data models prior to implementation.

After many startup highs, like being awarded a spot on the AUS AWS Healthcare Accelerator, winning a federally funded research grant, and onboarding our first commercial customers, the founder grind caught up with me. I experienced a monumental burnout in Q3, 2023. The decision was made to close the company, and focus on recovery. I learned a few very big lessons, and have been lucky enough to be able to reflect constructively on things to do differently, going forward - first and foremost, recognising the need to manage my energy as a limited resource.

During the ten months recovering, I reconnected with my local community, gardened a lot, and started learning to code (FE).

Late Jan'24, I was approached to join 2 dev projects as the UX and UI designer. Within a week I was product owner in scrum, and within 3wks project manager. I was asked to manage my first offshore team in Pakistan. This was quite a steep learning curve, but an awesome opportunity to extend my skills and work with a great team of devs in another time zone. I enjoyed the opportunity to build whole solutions (React and React Native applications) that worked in conjunction, incorporated payment integration (via Stripe) and were submitted to the App Store.

So, I'm back! A little wiser and greyer, but eager to get on with building great solutions. My heart is firmly in the impact and social justice spaces, but I can equally throw my creativity and problem solving into projects that satisfy and delight users in any sector.
